EULR (Eule)

EULR (Einfache Universelle Leichte Replika), (Simple Universal Light Replika 'Owl') or Eules, are Generation 4 Low-Cost General Purpose Replikas. They are the standard multi-purpose unit of the Eusan Nation having jobs such as cooks, nurses, cleaners, as well as simple medical and office workers[1],Teachers[2]. Eule means "Owl" in German.

Eules are not designed to be used in combat scenarios, with their lightweight frame not being suitable for direct combat. Instead they are considered prime candidates for isolated and distant facilities where supplies may be limited. They are deployed often due to their cheap manufacturing costs for the Nation. [1]

CombatEULR Logo.png[edit]

By the time the game takes place, most Eule units have been corrupted. These lost Replikas are usually armed with knives which they've most likely obtained from their initial roles as cooks but will now use against you.

Eules serve as the standard enemy in the game. Using the Debug menu we can learn that they have 35 HP. Therefore, they are not a major threat, requiring 2-3 well-aimed pistol shots to bring down (In Standard Difficulty). They usually travel in groups of 2-3 per room, and may overwhelm you with numbers if you aren't careful.

Later into the game they corrupt further, raising their HP to 50, requiring around 3 SMG bursts to bring down (In Standard Difficulty). Eules, like most other Replikas, can revive if their body is not burned. You can tell if a Eule will revive based on whether its eyes are colored or not. Later into the game they will typically travel in groups with other units. During Rotfront, the Eules will have a slightly darker head (as depicted in the bottom left image. They seem to be wearing gas masks, like Ariane's bullies in the Mandelbrot Polytechnische Oberschule memory) compared to the ones in other sections of the game.

It should be noted that if you allow a Eule to revive, it will return with 30 HP.

Notes Regarding the EULR UnitsEULR Logo.png[edit]

There are many notes regarding the Eules that help the player gain a greater understanding of them.

We can learn more about the Eules from their Overview Page; EULR is a 4th generation low-cost general purpose Replika. They have a biomechanical frame with a polyethylene shell. They are 175 cm tall. [1]

EULR units are the backbone of the Eusan Nation's workforce. These elegant multi-purpose worker units are suited for all kinds of domestic tasks like cleaning, cooking and simple medical and office work. Eules are highly social and get along well with each other and most other Replika models. While unfit for combat, their lightweight frame makes them a prime choice for distant facilities where supplies are limited.[1]

In the 'Replika Known Issues' file we can learn more about the problems that arise with these units[3]

Eules tend to form large groups and like to sing and dance, as the original neural pattern for this unit was a ballet dancer. Persona degradation can be easily prevented in this unit by making sure they have access to music (through tape players or musical instruments). Always place at least one mirror in Eule dorms, as they have a strong urge to check their own appearance at regular intervals. Eules' Persona stabilizes by keeping a tidy appearance and through regular social interactions. Eules will often organize in groups of roughly ten units and give each other themed nicknames.

Hospital Lifesupport System.jpg

The player can learn about one specific Eule in the medical bay from the reports on Patient EULR-S2321 This report also provides general information about how the infection progresses.

Patient complained about severe nausea and headaches. Admitted to hospital wing after vomiting oxidant fluid during work. Clinical picture in line with other recent cases among Protektor staff.

While we still have no indication what causes this syndrome, we've observed similar developments in all patients.

Most puzzlingly, development of the syndrome seems to progress similarly in both Replika and Gestalt patients. Initial admission test showed hypotension, high fever and dehydration, internal hemorrhaging. Strong cognitive decline within the first cycle, alopecia and purpura.

Within 5 cycles, skin will begin to peel in large patches; decline of vision quality and ability to communicate may follow. Gestalt patients will usually expire at this stage due to infections, while results for Replika patients seem to vary.[4]

Looking at the Service Request Form R-90 the player can learn about a request for a better map module from one EULR-S2303, nicknamed März

Date of filing Service Request Form: 84-21-3
Full Protektor ID of unit filing request: EULR-S2303 (Replika)
Status: Staff          Department: Kitchen Staff, Worker Quarters
Object: EULR RKM-7 Spatial Navigation Module

Note: My mapping module is still defective and won't show any map data. I keep getting lost on my way to work and back. I had to sleep in a hallway last cycle because I couldn't find the staff elevator to get to my dorm. Please, I can't find my way around this place without a map! - März

EULR-S2308 is part of the Protektor Accommodations Management. She sends an envoy to S-23 Service Cadre ARAR-S2314 supplying her with a High Voltage Fuse [5] that she requested which is used in the Fuse Puzzle.

EULR-2306 and 2305 communicate with each other regarding how to deal with the infected. [6]

EULR-S2309 wrote the following note:

The wall safe in classroom 48 keeps resetting to the default combination. What's the point of the whole radio code broadcasting system if our safe can only be opened with the code in the manual?[7]

The EULR DormEULR Logo.png[edit]

Eule Dorm Image.jpg

The Eules of Sierpinski live in the EULR Dorm. This small room contains around 12 beds or 6 bunkbeds for the Eules to sleep in. In the corner of the room a mirror has been placed, a mandatory item for preventing persona degradation.[3] There is also a destroyed tape player[8] with a tape next to it, this is the tape that plays the song required for the Owl Puzzle.[9] The song is Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Reading the notes scattered around the level that pertain to this room, the player can understand what happened.

"I am officially sick of the Eules next door. They've been listening to that stupid song non-stop since the piano room was locked down. If I have to hear it one more time I am going over there and smashing that stupid tape recorder to pieces. I wonder if there is a way we can 'borrow' a key so we can get into their dorm and put an end to this madness? I don't care about breaking quarantine if it means never having to hear that song again." [10]

This explains that the Storch next door likely snuck over to their dorm and impaled the music player with a knife to silence the song, leading to a massive persona degradation of the Eules and the corruption being spread further in the process.

Eule in the Nurses Office (EULR-S2312)EULR Logo.png[edit]

EULRNurseStation.png

The Eule found in the Nurses Office is referred to in the unity project file as EULR-S2312. It is one of two uninfected Eules in the game and the only Eule with lines.

Everyone's turned weird... I'm the only one left, I think. Will I get sick like the others, too?

I'm scared. I don't want to die.

You look kind of familiar... have we met before?

At first it was only Commander Falke who fell ill. Slowly, everyone started behaving strangely...

I'm too scared to go outside. I don't want to become like the others.

I don't want to die.

Teacher EulesEULR Logo.png[edit]

It is implied that Eules serve as teachers at Mandelbrot Polytechnische Oberschule by a line from Isa's perspective during the memory sequence that takes place in this building.

"Eule wipes it clean before she can note it down so I have to copy from Erika"

This means that Ariane, Isa, and Erika were all taught by Eule teachers.

This also implies that the Teacher's Evaluation: Ariane Yeong note was written by a Eule and the teacher Ariane is referring to in the Cycle 648 Note is also likely a Eule.

It is likely the reason why Eules appear in such high numbers in the Reeducation level of Sierpinski.

Eule With the Star (Unnamed EULR)EULR Logo.png[edit]

The Eule found within the Mineshafts with the wounded STAR-S23?? is unnamed and has no lines of her own. However speaking to the STAR reveals some details about their relationship, as she states the following:

Hey, don't cry. It'll be over soon.

Remember that time we went to the surface? The stars were so beautiful... I wish we could go there again.

Hey listen. I'll let you in on a secret. I can remember my name, from my old life. Isn't that funny?

Don't you want to know it? Here, I'll tell you. It'll be our secret together. So you can stop crying, okay?

It'll be okay. Wherever it is I'm going. I'll wait for you there.[11]

DataminingEULR Logo.png[edit]

Dataminers have found a way to pull the EULR model out of the game files revealing the following images. [12]
