The Machete is a cut weapon in the game that one can only obtain via the Debug Menu using the command

>GIVE MACHETE

Details[edit]

This weapon has a textured inspect, and a simple description. However it lacks a actual texture instead appearing as a simple pink tube when used.

The Simple Description reads "A heavy, straight-edged survival blade"

Its inspect description reads, "Nothing of Note"

Inspecting the weapon in the inventory shows it is what it says it is, a sleek mostly black machete with a comfortable hilt for Elster to hold onto it with.

Using the Machete one will find it does 10 damage in an arch to all enemies that come in contact with it on all difficulties. This damage also ignores armor, and will pierce straight through Mynah's Armor and Star's Shields. However its range is very limited only as long as the arch can reach, forcing the user to get very close with it for it to be able to make contact, allowing the enemies to strike back.

It can also be noted that if an enemy enters the swing of the machete twice it will take damage twice.

Likely Reason For Removal[edit]

While we don't know exactly why it was removed, several ideas can quickly be considered.

  1. The weapon was too much work to optimize, as can be seen by the damage piercing aspect being quite buggy, with it not working reliably on Mynah Units, and it not being able to reliably damage downed units.
  2. There was no good opportunity to add it. Seeing how the weapons we already have in game are introduced in a very careful fashion there may just not have been space in gameplay for such an addition.
  3. The most likely reasons is: It is far too powerful, the Machete requires no ammunition only takes one inventory slot, and can stun, damage, and push back any enemy that gets too close thus allowing it to be the best response in the game to multiple enemies (asides from perhaps the grenade loaded flare gun) as well as the most inventory efficient item in the entire game.
