LSTR

LSTR (Landvermessungs-/Schiff-Techniker Replika), (Land Survey/Ship Technician Replika 'Magpie') or Elster, are Generation 5 Kosmo-Pioneer Specialist Replikas designed to assist orbital missions or Recon Missions.

The player character of the game, Elster, is an LSTR Replika.

Known LSTR Units[edit | edit source]

It is theorized that 75-79 LSTRs died from being pushed down the elevator shaft by Adler.[1]

LSTR-S2301 was a LSTR unit ordered by Adler, that was later lost in the time loops.

Relevant Memories[edit | edit source]

There are several notes regarding LSTR Units that can help us understand them better.

LSTRs like all other Replika's have oxidant blood[2] and bioengineered flesh that is inedible for Gestalts.[3]

LSTRs have a Biomechanical with carbon fiber-reinforced Polyethylene Shell and Titanium Skeleton Frame,[4] which sports a RLM or Repair Logic Module. This Module can be used by LSTR units to easily repair themselves and crucial mission equipment.[5] Along with this repair logic, LSTR units can make use of Coagulant K to thicken oxidant and reduce bleeding[6] as well as the Construction Foam[7] or Polyurethane resin[8] found in Repair Sprays to heal and repair themselves.

LSTRs are described in greater detail in their Replika Overview Page, stating the following:

A versatile combat engineer unit primarily designed for orbital service. These tough and stoic loners are best suited as specialist Sappers and Scouts. Their technical knowledge and combat capabilities make these units true survivalists, especially when in their iconic white-and-blue heavy combat configuration, which sports bullet-resistant armor plating on their chest and forearms. Since the original neural pattern for this unit was lost with the destruction of the central Neural Archive on Vineta, new LSTR units have been produced based on a decommissioned unit from the Penrose Program.[4]

This document details several key aspects of the LSTR unit, these being that their current neural base is based off a decommissioned LSTR unit from the Penrose Program due to the destruction of the central neural archive, and that they have both a standard style as well as a heavier white and blue combat configuration, which is described as being iconic for their type.

In addition, the LSTR known issues document states:

Elster units were chosen for the Penrose Program for their adaptability and reliability under long-term isolation conditions. Stoic and reserved, Elster units have a relatively stable neural pattern. It is best for you to leave it alone and interact with the Elster unit as little as possible. Elsters' neural pattern was a soldier of Vinetan origin, so their needs are basic. Avoid talking to the Elster unit about the war.

Penrose vessels are fitted with a specialized calibration pod which may help with Persona stabilization. To avoid resurfacing of Gestalt memories, do not show or give the Elster unit photographs, especially of soldiers during the war. Do not show the Elster unit movies, or let it listen to music. Do not try to befriend the Elster unit.

This characterizes LSTRs as being units that are meant to be distant from their gestalt commanders; emotionless and cold, whose only purpose is to maintain the ship.

Standard LSTRs have an orange chestpiece,[9] but they also have a heavy combat configuration where they are armored with bullet resistant, white-and-blue plating over their chest and forearms.[4]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Elster means Magpie in German.[10]
  • Accidentally or not, the abbreviation LSTR is similar to the abbreviated title of the 40. Luftsturmregiment (40th Air Assault Regiment) of the National People's Army of the GDR - LStR-40.[11] Other similarities between Elster replikas and LStR-40 soldiers can be found in the fact that both are taught and trained to conduct warfare far from the main forces, such as infiltration, reconnaissance and commando raids on the significant facilities in the enemy's rear area. In addition, the orange colour of the standard LSTR chestpiece is identical to the colour of the parade berets worn by East German paratroopers.<refwikipedia:40.
